Official Mac builds are not out yet, only if you stop downloading in a Mac, so you must be patient. Mac users will not receive official support for CompassCAD Desktop running under Wine or Proton, as some bugs are beyond our control. However, what’s running native for you, and the only one Mac users will receive official support is CompassCAD Web, in which it is just a stripped down version of CompassCAD. Be patient. Mac buld will release soon, only if you are patient.

What these effects will mean for Mac users

• You won’t get any official support for CompassCAD Desktop running under Wine.
• Uncontrollable bugs may occur.
• CompassCAD Mac users should use CompassCAD Web, available and supported for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and more. However, you won’t get the same luxury as CompassCAD Desktop (Windows and Linux), such as:
  • Peer-to-peer collaboration
  • Inspector
  • Opening backups
• Any bad reviews targeted towards CompassCAD Desktop that comes from Mac users won’t be accepted.

Why am I intentionally doing this

• Impatience. Mac users just hop in and directly taking the risk.
• Code signing issues. Signing and building a DMG requires me to rent a Mac machine, which is costly for me.

How you can contribute

• Build DMG images. Unofficial DMG builds are okay, but there will be a security risk beyond our control.
• Contribute code that makes CompassCAD even more native towards Mac.
